All Eyes on You 2012-2014
The eye is everywhere. We are drawn to it due to its symbolic history, anatomical qualities, visual immediacy, and graphic appeal. Our cultural perception and attention to this symbol is undeniable. As far back as Ancient Egypt, (Eye of Horus) this symbol is invoked to witness humanity. Despite its potency, the mass repropriation of this image in popular culture has made it lose meaning. Thus, losing its power to make us reflect upon ourselves. This project focuses on exploiting the history of the eye.
My aim is to force the audience to confront this symbol, and in doing so confront their own humanity.
